Smiley's House of Joy!   

We all have those special friends who make us laugh.  This website is dedicated to all my friends and family - You Know Who You Are :), who NEVER cease to make me laugh.  It is because of you that I have this site.  Thank you for being there. 

This website is sort of like a scrap book of pictures and moments from over the past to present.  The majority of what you'll see will be PAINTBALL related because that's what my friends and family love to do for fun.  And so, if you'd like to get to know a little about me and who I am with my friends and family, please feel free to explore this site and ENJOY!!!.

A little about me -

Brian Burke AKA "Smiley"

My name is Brian, but my friends can only remember "Smiley".  I have a habit of being a prankster and one of my dead giveaways that I am up to mischief is the huge smile that I get.  I try to approach my life and teaching with a "smile" no matter how bad things get. 
 

 

This is me with me niece and God Daughter, Marie.

Unfortunately, I haven't seen them much lately.  Last time I saw her, she cried and  ran from me in horror.   

 

 

  No, I didn't get married.  Why would I want to do something like that?  My friend in white, on the other hand, was not that smart. 

I'm the best man to one of my closet friends, Tim.  The poor fool got married!  Actually, Tab's a great gal!  I have pics from the wedding and the prank we pulled on them. 

 

This is me looking like Grizzly Adams.  I spent the summer working my parent's sheep ranch back in Freeport and um...my razor broke:-P

 

 And here's me again as the best man at my bud's wedding.  It was ninety-some degrees that day and I'm dying in that tux.  Nice tux though:) 

 

 

Did you know that I like to paint?  I also do sculpting with clay and or metal.  Ask the art students...I'm always teaching them how to weld. 

 

 

 

 

Finally, I got some pics of me without a paintball gun.  Yeah, I know I look like a "hood".  It was cold, windy, and I forgot to smile...Yes, I know how to smile. 

 

                

Yeah, I also forgot to smile in this one (below)...I was caught by surprise trying to hook up my camera to this f***ing TV.

            

 And this one caught me going "Huh, Wha... - Duh?"  (My friends take the best pictures of me - Thanks guys!)

 

 

And this is my baby. 

She is half poodle, and half Bichon Frise. Her name is "Oodles."  

 

 

Quickies tid bits about me: 

  • I am a student at IUP.  My major is teaching writing and I am trying to work on my dissertation - BLAH!.  Lately, I have been teaching  more on campus and I have been finding it very hard to meet new people because now everyone sees me as one of the teachers..."Ew!  Teacher," I what I've been getting as of late. 
  • I grew up on a sheep ranch outside Freeport, PA.  Please - no "Sheep fucking jokes".  I've heard them all.
  • My AOL chat is legendarysmiley and my YAHOO chat is fafunew14 - drop me a line. I write short fiction for fun. 
  • I'm a bit of a comic book nerd. 
  • I regard my close friends as part of my family. 
  • I design and build my own paintball equipment, yet it seems that this is the only thing I still enjoy in paintball.  I get tired of people always trying to hunt me down in a malicious way.  No one seems to remember how to play this sport anymore:( . 
  • I tend to be a goof when with friends and yes, we are ruthless and crass at times.  Funny story, I was dating this girl and when she met Stange and Co., she did not want to date me anymore.   
  • I love doing the teaching thing.  If anything, I would like to spend a couple years teaching over seas in Asia or Italy and Greece.    

The most annoying question I get asked:

My friends and family always ask me, “Why are you single?” "What's wrong with you?"  That’s good question. I stare blankly back at them and reply, “I guess I haven’t tried.” Anyhow, who really cares? Right? Honestly, I have problems fitting in, or I fit in too well and no one notices me. 

 Simply said, I am very adventurous and easy going.  I also know how to cook. If you have a similar sense of humor as I have, you’ll never stop laughing. Movies of any kind are awesome too. 

Friends and Family

People say that a person can pick his friends, but not his family.  To me, my friends are my family.  I am lucky to have a few that I am really close with and know that they will always watch my back (especially when we play paintball - how do I say this...I aint't too popular in the sport of paintball).     

 

 

 

Yes, I like paintball.  This does not mean that I am a violent person like some believe.  I'm actually very easy going and laid back.  As for playing, I prefer spending more time off the field designing and tinking the gear. 

As of late I am an Advisor and Club Tech of the IUP Paintball Club.
