Music Library Association Atlantic Chapter: Fall 2007
Meeting.
We would like to invite you to our annual chapter meeting, which will take place
at Indiana University of Pennsylvania on
October 5-6, 2007. Our
program will focus on the Future of Librarianship,
with speakers covering cataloging, collection development, reference services,
current musicological research, and a panel discussion on this topic.
Friday afternoon's meeting will take place in the library of the “Victorian
Jewel” of IUP, the Breezedale
Alumni Center, near the northern end of campus. Saturday morning’s meeting
will take place in the
Orendorff Music
Library in the newly renovated music building,
Cogswell Hall.
Accommodations: We have reserved a block of rooms at the
Best Western University Inn (1545 Wayne Avenue, 724-349-9620). Mention
that you're attending the AtMLA conference at IUP for the following rates:
Queen $59 + tax; King and Double $69 + tax. This includes hot breakfast buffet
from 6-9 am. The cut off date for reservations is Sept. 27th.
There are
four
other hotels in Indiana, Pa.
Dining: Indiana is a university
town with a wide variety of
dining
options. If you would like to join together for dinner on Friday evening,
we have reserved space at one of our better local restaurants,
Benjamin’s (458 Philadelphia St.). Entrées range from $10-25 and the
restaurant has a full bar and wine list. We need a count for the
restaurant. If you would like to join us, please email

Please note that there is a great deal of construction happening on our campus. We have the largest dormitory project in the United States underway ($200 million) and our main auditorium and theater buildings are being renovated. Note that these construction areas, including some streets that run through campus, are closed to pedestrian and vehicle traffic. Please check the campus map showing the meeting sites, parking, and the closed construction areas (marked off with black lines).
