2009 Meeting Information

The Niagara Chapter of the
Society for Ethnomusicology is pleased to announce
its 2009 Annual Meeting hosted by the Department
of Music at Cornell University in
Ithaca, New York, April 3-5, 2009. Most events will be held in Rooms
B-20 and B-21 of Lincoln Hall, the music building, which can be found on
the maps of Cornell.

PARKING INFORMATION
Parking in many areas of the Cornell
University campus is free after 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday and all day Saturday
and Sunday. Please read all signs when entering a lot to be sure of the
restrictions. There are several lots near Lincoln Hall (see campus map) and
parking on the side of the street across the bridge from Lincoln Hall on
Thurston Avenue. The TCAT bus system is also an excellent way of getting to
campus. Please visit the website for more information on bus routes

The Call For Papers (deadline was March 7th, 2009):
The Program Committee encourages proposals for presentations,
special sessions, lecture-demonstrations, and panel discussions on any
topic. The overall theme for the
meeting will be “Teaching and Performing ‘Traditional’ Musics in “Contemporary’
America”. Dr. Terry Miller, Professor
Emeritus of Kent State University, will be the plenary speaker. Further details of the meeting will be posted
on the Niagara
Chapter website.
As always, the
chapter strongly encourages proposals for presentation from students. The T. Temple Tuttle Prize is presented for
the best student paper at the meeting.
For consideration please submit a proposal of no more than 250
words by March 7, 2009. Please include the title, author's name, and
institutional affiliation. All proposals
should be sent by electronic mail
directly to the Professor Martin Hatch, Chair
of the Program Committee.
In the SUBJECT line, please put the
