2009 Meeting Information

Preliminary Program

The Niagara Chapter of the Society for Ethnomusicology is pleased to announce its 2009 Annual Meeting hosted by the Department of Music at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, April 3-5, 2009.   Most events will be held in Rooms B-20 and B-21 of Lincoln Hall, the music building, which can be found on the maps of Cornell.   Check the driving directions to Ithaca, PDFs of Ithaca Dining and an Ithaca Area Map, and additional transportation and local information.

PARKING INFORMATION

Parking in many areas of the Cornell University campus is free after 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday and all day Saturday and Sunday. Please read all signs when entering a lot to be sure of the restrictions. There are several lots near Lincoln Hall (see campus map) and parking on the side of the street across the bridge from Lincoln Hall on Thurston Avenue. The TCAT bus system is also an excellent way of getting to campus.  Please visit the website for more information on bus routes http://www.tcatbus.com/.

ACCOMMODATIONS
Blocks of rooms have been reserved until March 20th at the following hotels which are close to campus:

The Hillside Inn (on Stewart Avenue, about 1/4 mile walk to Lincoln Hall, site of the conference) the following have been set aside:
2 triples at a cost of $75 for the room;
6 doubles at a cost of $65 for the room;
4 singles at a cost of $55 for the room.
There is free off-street parking at the Hillside. It is a kind of rooming-house, but every room has at least its own sink-toilet, and, I think, shower as well. You'll have to ask. We've put many people up here and folks like it well enough. Telephone for reservations: 607-273-6864.

At the University Best Western (Ellis Hollow Road; East Hill Plaza; a half-mile from Lincoln Hall) the following have been set aside:
10 doubles at a cost of $89 for the room.
There is also lots of off-street parking here; comes with a free breakfast; and van service to the campus at most times. Telephone for reservations: 607-272-6100. Our block also held until March 20th.

There are many other places in Ithaca, all either much more expensive or rather far from campus, or both expensive and far. (For example: Hilton Garden; Motel 8; Holiday Inn Ithaca.
