Objective:  To learn how to find and appraise print, electronic and media materials about all types of music from around the world.

Grading:  Weekly reading assignments to be completed before the class meets 20% Weekly written assignments due the following week (20%)  Midterm and Final Examinations (20% each) and Final Project (20%).

Week 8            Spring Break  (Take Home Midterm)

Week   9          Sound Recordings, Films and Videos

Week 10          Archival Materials

Week 11          Fieldwork

Week 12          Transcription and Analysis

Week 13          Musical Instruments

Week 14          Recent issues in World Music Scholarship

Week 15          Intellectual Property and World Music

Week 16          Final Projects Due and Final Exam Review

(Note: Final Exam is at the Scheduled Time During Finals Week)
