
IUP Cycling Club 2009
College Lodge Cookout
The IUP Cycling will hosted it's second annual year end cookout
at the College Lodge Ski Hut on Saturday, April 25th. Members enjoyed
the rustic location of the Skit Hut and feasted on a wide variety of
food and refreshments. The winner of this years Huffy Toss Championship
was Steve Brewer who dominated the competition. Pictures are available

Maintenance Workshop
On Thursday, March 26th, the IUP Cycling Club hosted a free
maintenance workshop
open to all students. Guest speaker for the workshop was Rich Seevers,
AG3R cycling team, who taught students proper techniques in bike
maintenance and repair on seasonally important topics. The workshop had
a great turnout and everyone was able gain something for the experience.
The IUP Cycling Club would like to thank Rich Seevers for volunteering

Spring Riding Schedule
Spring road rides will begin Tuesday, March 10th; the first Tuesday once Daylight Savings Times begins. Rides will be on Tuesday and Thursday at 5:15pm, and Saturday at 12:00pm. Meet in the Oak Grove across from the Pizza House. A floor pump will be provided. There will also be spinning classes Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings in the HUB at 7:00am. Dates for mountain rides and casual road rides are still undetermined at this point.
Jersey Orders
Anyone interested in purchasing a jersey must do so immediately. A design template has been finalized and is available HERE. The company we are purchasing through is VOmax. To view their website click HERE. A sizing chart is also available. Please be aware of the appropriate size, as listed. The jerseys are unisex racing cut, please be careful of this when reading the chart, as there are two different types. The company advises females to order one size smaller in the unisex sizes. JERSEYS: $50 for student members / $75 for non-student members.
Lecture on Nutrition and Cycling
On Thursday, December 4th, the IUP Cycling Club enjoyed presentation on nutrition and cycling by junior Dietetics and Nutrition major, Daniel Esten. Following the presentation the club was able to ask Daniel questions they had concerning specific areas of the topic. A wonderful job and a very big thank you to Daniel.

Sheetz Coupon Fundraiser
The IUP Cycling Club successfully completed its first fundraising project recently, raising $330 this semester in a fundraising program provided by Sheetz. Members of the club sold over 200 coupons in about a 30 day period. Thank you to everyone who participated and worked hard to make this project such a huge success. Money raised will be used to help fund jerseys for the club.
Grab Butts Day
On Saturday, November 8th, the IUP Cycling Club participated in a volunteer effort to clean up cigarette butts on campus. Thank you to everyone who participated in this event.
New Advisement Member
We are proud to announce a new faculty advisor the club. In addition to Dr. Baumer, Dr. Simmons, a professor in Biology, brings personal commitment to the club. Over the summer of 2008, Dr. Simmons placed 43rd overall in the Xterra Appalachia, arguably the regions most grueling off-road triathlon. We look very forward to our future with Dr. Simmons.

Club Member Completes Ride to Alaska
Daniel Esten completed his 4,500 mile tour from IUP campus to Anchorage, Alaska raising more than $6,000 for the American Cancer Society. More information on his trip can be found HERE and HERE.
