Teaching Philosophy:

My teaching philosophy is adapted from Dr. Robert Soule, who along with Dr. John Engler were instrumental in starting me on the path to teaching in academia. Both are now retired.

We come together during the semesters because you must take a course that is required for your curriculum and I am perceived as having certain knowledge that can contribute to your learning. Therefore, you are the customer with every right to expect a solid technical education and the “biggest bang for your buck.” I am committed to providing my part o the bargain by drawing on my industrial and academic backgrounds to give you a comprehensive learning experience that will be self-sustaining beyond this class and throughout your careers.

I can teach without your participation however, real learning requires dialog, a two-way flow of information between you and me. I expect a concerted effort from all of you. I encourage and expect active participation from all students. Fundamentally, you will get out of my course what you put into it!
