Exhibit for Humanities Lit: Varieties of Texts

How do we respond to a text when we're "blindfolded," that is when we don't know what kind of thing it is supposed to be? Are there essential features to some texts that make them literary? What's the difference between how we relate to a text that we think is "literature" versus something that seems ordinary, like a take-out menu?
