Research Process
(Blog)
Regular, informal postings to your personal progress log (at blogger.com) which discusses the steps you're taking as well as discoveries, road-blocks, and changes of course in your position and approach.  Many posts will be specifically assigned on a daily or weekly basis; the best blogs include extra posts of consistently high quality.
(Portfolio) Milestone assignments in the development of your research, such as the Topic Statement, Field Report , and Research Proposal may be posted to your blog.  At the close of the semester, paper-copies of these must be edited, cleanly formatted, and submitted in a folder.

The syllabus that in addition to the final essay, you also submit evidence of your process, efforts and accomplishments through the semester.  This requires you to assemble various documents that you have already produced and organize them in a format for my review.  There is no need to write anything new.

Please use a simple pocket folder to organize materials and bring them to the final exam. On the front of the folder, write your name, class number, and meeting time. You will then file the following materials in the two sides.

Blog – a printout of your research blog from blogger.com.  Grading holistically, I will look for a pattern of work and effort rather than looking for specific assignments.

If there are extra documents that you would like me to see, but which you were unable to blog, please them at the end of the left-side packet. These could include things such as your fieldwork notes, a copy of a survey you administered, etc.  Label each clearly.

In cases where you have already submitted a document for a grading, please include the copy with comments and grade; if you did further work on anything, feel free to include copies that are clearly labelled as such.

Printing the blog - it is crucial that you turn in a full and complete printout of the blog. Because of the different templates used, it will be most effective if you copy and paste the blog content into a word file before printing (then you can fix margins and eliminate gaps and blank pages.)
