Cover Letter Exercise

Compose, save, and print a cover letter to attach to the draft of your research essay.  This is your opportunity to emphasize strong points and to acknowledge any undone work or aspects of the project you already plan to improve in revision.

After you have printed it, also paste it into your blog for the record.

Elements:
  1. Introduction: Articulation of the research question and a summary of your purpose.
  2. Accomplishments: Description of successes largely achieved in the draft.
  3. Self-criticism: Discussion of 2 or 3 major improvements you would like to make in the course of revising this essay.

Format:

Observe the conventions of a standard, "full block-format" business letter. (example) Do not rely on the MS-Word templates; use 12pt. font size and single-spacing, except between paragraphs.
