Response Question 3 - Formalism
Read the poem "Oread" by H.D. :
Oread
Whirl up, sea --
1
whirl your pointed pines
splash your great pines
on our rocks,
hurl your green over us,
5
cover us with your pools of fir.
Now write a summary of all the details a formalist close-reading would need to take into account. (You need not, though you could, actually cast your response in the form of an essay. But for the response, at least go as far as brainstorming and then summarizing all the relevant details. If you like, you could work line by line, quoting the poem.)
