Groups: Three Poems and
Three Concepts (Synthesis)
Today, we'll look at
three fascinating poems in the light of some of the new toolbox concepts
we've learned about.
-
You should read the
poem aloud in your group once (or twice) more, then briefly discuss it
(initial reactions) and your assigned concept (refresh memory). (5
minutes)
-
Next generate one or
two relevant questions (linking the poem and the concept); write them
neatly on a sheet of paper; discuss possible answers(10 minutes).

Your group and the
others working on the poem will share your questions and some
provisional answers with the class (3 minutes each).

- Does this poem seem directed by an
"author"?
- How does the deadly joke twist and turn it
away from an author's control?
- Does the she, which becomes a "he,"
eventually turn to peck at some "we" ?
