I. Basic Web Page Design - Today you'll gain a basic understanding of how
to use Frontpage to make and design web pages. While one group member will ultimately have
to coordinate the whole; all should learn the basics.
- Creating a Web - Open "MS
Frontpage" | Select: "Create a new webpage" | Select "Empty Web"
| Enter your group's name as title | and indicate where to place it. (If you brought a
disk, select "A:/" and then you will be able to save it; otherwise, it will stay
on this computer.)
- Create a Page - Select "New Page"
at the top left of the screen | Double-click the homepage icon, and it will open a new
window. You can type or paste text in here just as with a wordprocessor.
- Format - Experiment with the various menus |
Create a title, insert your manifesto, etc. | Using the "Format" and
"Insert" menus, design the home or introductory page: choosing font style, size,
background colors, etc.
II. Group Design - Look at
some other literary
webpages to see how they are designed. Members of the group should gather around the
techno-leader's computer and collectively decide on a homepage look (color, style, etc.).
- Publishing to the Web - [Group leader only:
When you've created a good starting page, post this page(named index.htm) to your
geocities space. ] From the Frontpage navigator page, select "Publish" from the
"File" menu; enter the URL (ftp://ftp.geocities.com/yourgroupname), user name
(yourgroupname) and password.
III. Build additional pages and links -
Use the same procedure above to create a new page with group members' names. Create links
between Main and Name pages. Post this new page to your geocities space.
HW: Write one additional style poem for Monday; bring
typed copies for all groupmates of at least 4 of your style poems to the next class. |
