Course Description: A study of major and minor literary works. Students develop the skills of close reading, interpretation, and analysis while gaining insight into American literature, history, and culture. Reading, class discussion, and formal/informal writing assignments help students to think about how individual works and authors accept, rework, reject, and otherwise interact with dominant issues of their time.
