Advance note to Summer 2005 Students: I will not have a chance to fully update the syllabus or site until June.  Please use the links below (summer 2004) as a rough guide as to how the course will proceed. One significant change is that we will read literary excerpts from reserve rather than out of the WC Williams Reader.  Please activate your IUP email and network account. ( I highly recommend Literary Theory: An Introduction by Terry Eagleton Amazon** We will not work through this text chapter-by-chapter, because of the short duration of the session; however, I know of no better text to lay the groundwork for this course, especially if your prior experience with theory is limited).
